2022 Intentions

I’m wishing you a healthy, happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope you’ve been finding some time to rest & recharge during the holiday season. I had a low key, relaxing Christmas & New Year’s Eve & plan on spending the weekend cleaning our apartment before heading back to school on Monday! (Where did winter break go??)

There’s something about a new year; I love the feeling of a fresh start. I like to start each year with a few intentions that I’ll focus on. Here are a few of my intentions for 2022!

  • Find time to truly rest! It’s easy to get burnt out with grad school & teaching. I found myself desperately needing rest over the last few weeks, so that’s something I want to incorporate more of into my weekly life.
  • Spend more time doing things that fill my cup! Learning new instruments (I got a ukulele for Christmas, so fun!), working on speaking Spanish, writing blog posts, spending time with friends. I want to spend more time doing things that make me happy in the new year.
  • Move my body in ways that bring me joy! Hey, you know there won’t be any weight loss or diet culture related resolutions over here! While it’s still hard for me (especially now that I’m seeing all the “sweating for the wedding” things out there, I don’t want to focus on weight loss. Instead, I want to move my body in ways that feel good & make me feel strong. I want to go for more long walks with Theo, take more virtual dance classes. Things that make me smile & get my heart rate up & improve my mental health.

Please don’t let society make you feel like you need a “new you” for the new year. You’re so great, just the way you are! It’s fine to want to improve our lives & have a fresh start, but I think there’s also something to feeling grateful for what you have & happy in who you are now & who you’ll grow to become. Happy New Year!

Love,

Danielle
